Tox aftercare guide for BOTOX, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau, and Daxxify in Williston Park

We hear it all the time: people come in expecting soreness or drama and end up surprised by how comfortable the visit feels. After your Tox appointment, the single most important rule is simple: stay upright for at least 4 hours and don’t rub or massage the treated areas. That one step protects placement while everything settles.

Our Tox visits are quick, usually around 15 minutes, and we keep the aftercare just as straightforward. If you’re headed back onto Willis Avenue to run errands or catch the LIRR, these rules fit real life.

The first 24–48 hours after Tox: the do’s that keep results looking natural

Right after injections, your skin can look totally normal or you might see tiny bumps like little mosquito bites. That’s common and usually calms down quickly. What matters most is what you don’t do next.

48-hour quick rules: Stay upright 4 hours. Keep hands off treated areas. Skip hard workouts and heavy sweating for 24–48 hours. Avoid saunas, hot tubs, and hot yoga for 24–48 hours. Hold off on alcohol for 24 hours.

Do this today

  • Stay upright for 4 hours. No lying flat, naps on the couch, or long reclines.
  • Use gentle facial movements. Normal expressions are fine. Avoid aggressive facial massage tools.
  • Ice if you bruise. A clean, soft cold compress for short intervals helps. Don’t press hard.

Avoid this for 24–48 hours

  • Rubbing, massaging, or pressing on injection sites (including gua sha, facial rollers, and tight helmet straps if they irritate the area).
  • Strenuous exercise and anything that spikes heat and sweating. Summer on Long Island gets humid fast, so plan park days and outdoor workouts around your first 1–2 days.
  • Saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and very hot showers right onto the treated areas.
  • Facials, laser, microdermabrasion, or deep exfoliation over treated areas for at least 48 hours (and longer if your skin feels sensitive).

Days 3–7: how to protect your Botox or Dysport while it settles in

Most people start noticing the change gradually. That’s normal. We keep expectations realistic: you’ll often see early softening in a few days, with the full look showing up closer to the 2-week mark.

If you love that “natural, refreshed” result, this week is about avoiding anything that irritates skin or encourages you to touch your face out of habit. And yes, we know the first impulse is to check every mirror. Try to let it do its thing.

Quick note on plans: If you’ve got a big event, schedule Tox with enough time for the full effect. We also do a two-week check-in because details matter.

Avoid these common “I forgot” moments

  • Skipping sunscreen, then spending a long day outside. Keep sun exposure reasonable and protect your skin.
  • Booking a facial too soon. If you’re not sure what’s safe, ask us before you schedule it.
  • Heavy alcohol nights that lead to dehydration and puffiness. We’d rather you keep it easy for a day.

Bruising, swelling, and makeup: the simple routine we’d rather you follow

Mild swelling, a little tenderness, or a small bruise can happen. Most bruises fade within about a week. The goal is calming the area, not attacking it.

For bruising or swelling

  • Use a gentle cold compress for short intervals the first day.
  • Keep pressure light. No deep rubbing to “work it out.”
  • Arnica or bromelain are common options some people use. If you’re on medications or have medical concerns, let us know so we can guide you safely.
  • We only recommend avoiding NSAIDs if we’ve advised it for your situation. If you’re on a blood thinner, follow the prescriber’s guidance and tell us before your appointment.

Makeup timing: We generally recommend waiting until the same day later on or the next day, as long as the skin isn’t irritated. Apply gently and keep brushes clean. If you bruise easily, give it a full day when you can.

Sweating, sun, swimming: what actually messes with tox aftercare on Long Island

Heat and heavy sweating are the big ones in the first 24–48 hours. In the summer, that can mean a quick Eisenhower Park walk turns into a sweaty workout before you even realize it. Keep things cooler for a day or two. Your result will thank you.

Swimming itself isn’t usually the issue. The issue is the combo of sun, heat, dehydration, and rubbing your face with a towel. If you swim, keep it low-key the first day, don’t bake in direct sun, and pat dry instead of scrubbing.

If you commute through the Willis Avenue corridor

We love that our aftercare rules are short. Most busy professionals and families in Williston Park can fit them in without rearranging the week. If you’re coming from Mineola, Garden City, East Williston, Albertson, Roslyn, or Westbury, keep this page handy and text or call if something feels off.

When to reach out to AKKI Aesthetics (and what’s normal)

Normal: mild tenderness, small bumps that fade quickly, a small bruise, or a little asymmetry while things settle. We also expect the full effect closer to two weeks, so don’t panic on day two.

Call us right away if you notice eyelid or eyebrow drooping, asymmetry that worsens, severe or increasing pain, shortness of breath, or any vision changes. We take those seriously.

"Liran at Akki Aesthetics is fantastic. He’s meticulous, explains every step of the Botox process, and makes the experience feel easy and comfortable. The results are natural, and the two‑week follow‑up shows how much he cares about getting everything just right."

Stay upright for at least 4 hours after your Tox appointment. That means no lying flat, no naps, and no long reclines. It’s one of the easiest ways to protect your result while everything settles.

We generally recommend skipping strenuous exercise and heavy sweating for 24 to 48 hours. Light walking is usually fine, but hold off on intense workouts, hot yoga, and anything that gets you overheated right away.

If your skin feels calm and not irritated, you can usually apply makeup later the same day or the next day. Use a light hand, keep brushes clean, and avoid pressing or rubbing over the treated areas.

The biggest concern in the first 24 to 48 hours is heat and heavy sweating, plus rubbing the area. Try to avoid prolonged sun exposure, saunas, hot tubs, and intense workouts during that window. If you swim, keep it low-key and don’t scrub your face with a towel.

Use a gentle cold compress in short intervals and avoid pressing hard or massaging the area. Mild bruising and swelling can happen and often fades within about a week. If you’re concerned about what you’re seeing, call us and we’ll guide you.
